You may have noticed, food-for-the-gods.com is going through a MAJOR overhaul.  Please, pardon our dust, as we make the piece-by-piece transition from the old site to the new one.  You’ll know if you’re on the new site or the old one.  The old one has a completely black background, while the new site has a more pleasing look with new photo backgrounds, such as the green mossy tree-bark you see here.  This photo was taken by assistant director Jon Corbiere while we were filming the first Food for the Gods film in the beautiful northwestern rainforests of southern British Columbia.

It‘s been a year since the site (and FFTG News) has been significantly updated—not because there has been nothing to report, but quite the contrary!  We have been so busy traveling from city to city across North America to film festivals and other venues, and preparing for the next FFTG film(s), we simply haven’t had time to update it!

The following is far from the whole story, but here’s the “Cliff’s Notes” version, until we can complete the full update filled with tons of news, articles, and links to all things Food for the Gods.

· Currently, H. Scott Hughes and Yvette Lu are in the beginning processes of forming a small indie company, tentatively named Sees Far Pictures.  Hughes and Lu hope to use this company to launch an FFTG sequel and ultimately a feature film trilogy or franchise.  H. Scott Hughes has written a 30 minute script, Food for the Gods II: Aftermath and is also writing a feature length version of Food for the Gods, to be followed by two sequels, City for the Gods and Destiny for the Gods.  As far as FFTG: Aftermath, most of the original cast have said they would return (Yvette, Danny, Beverly, Tara, Taka, Yuki, and Vincent), and several additional and well known actors have also expressed their desire to join our ever expanding universe.

· FFTG writer/director H. Scott Hughes has optioned an unrelated sci-fi screenplay, Timekeeper, to 3RB Productions Ltd. in New Brunswick.  It is based on a novel by Stephen McKinnon who also happens to be the project’s producer.  Hughes may also direct the film, if it is made.  It is currently being marketed by 3RB as a television series pilot.

· In November, 2008, H. Scott Hughes, Yvette Lu, and FFTG co-writer Phillip Matte answered questions from a huge audience of fans at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, where Food for the Gods was screening (along with Servants of War, also starring Yvette Lu and Taka Hiro).  To this day, Scott hasn’t washed his hand after shaking hands with Battlestar Galactica’s Grace Park, while at the event.  Okay, he has washed his hands, but he didn’t want to.

· During the 2008 Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon, Yvette Lu co-wrote and co-directed the short comedy film Baby Donut, starring FFTG’s Yuki Morita in the lead role.

· In September, 2008, FFTG was featured at the Route 66 Film Festival in Springfield, Illinois, in a rare double billing with its “sister film” Crazy Old Woman (a thriller written by H. Scott Hughes and directed by FFTG producer Joe Fang).   Hughes and FFTG took 2nd place Audience Favorite Directorial Debut, and Crazy Old Woman also took Audience Favorite Drama.  While screening in Springfield, FFTG stars Yvette Lu and Danny Dorosh where both featured on the front cover of “A&E,” a publication of the Illinois State Journal-Register.

· FFTG’s three leading ladies, Yvette Lu, Beverly Wu Hannah, and Yuki Morita where on hand to answer audience questions, late last year in Richmond, BC, when Food for the Gods premiered at the New Asia Film Festival.  Panelists at the event compared Food for the Gods to Wong Kar-wai’s romantic masterpiece, 2046.  Meanwhile, Yvette Lu and Food for the Gods were featured in an article of the Chinese language newspaper, World Journal.

· In May, 2008, Food for the Gods garnered its world television premiere on Shaw Multicultural Channel, specifically selected by SMC and the Asian heritage organization, ExplorASIAN, as part of SMC’s celebration of Canada’s Asian Heritage Month.
